1979 – Two and Two Makes Sex
THIS clever comedy by Richard Harris and Leslie Darbon adds up to a lot of fun on a split stage with the action sparking bursts of side-splitting laughter.
Middle-aged George Williams attempts to solve a virility crisis in the arms of young Jane Bowers, but his keep-fit efforts – jogging and tugging at a chest expander – soon alert his wife.
Graham Smith is a hoot as the bowler-hatted George, nervously ringing home from his lover’s bedsit to explain his late return from work, and there is a lovely performance from Lynne Young, the suspicious wife, Clare, who decides to tackle the problem by engaging in a spot of extra-marital mischief of her own.
But her target turns out to be Jane’s boyfriend, Nick, and Dexter Whitehead is a bundle of energy in that role, even managing an impressive headstand while delivering some of his lines.
