Alan and his wife Dorinda joined SSP in 1987 and performed together in ‘Flare Path’ in Marks Tey. Since then they have appeared in many plays and pantos for the Group. Favourite roles include ‘Bernard in ‘Season’s Greetings’ which he did on two separate occasions, Grandfather in ‘There Goes The Bride’ (for which he won a Theatre guild comedy award) and Selsdon Mowbray in ‘Noises Off’ which was a Best Production winner for SSP. In panto he has recently been seen as the surly Herald in ‘Old King Cole’ and this year teamed up with Dorinds again as the Baron and Baroness in ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.Alan has also directed a number of plays including ‘Outside Edge’’, ‘Suddenly at Home’, ‘Visiting Hour’, Edge of Darkness’ and ‘Wife begins at Forty’ and most recently, ‘Dirty Dusting’
