Welcome to the Stane Street Players website.

Stane Street Players are the local drama group for Halstead and Earls Colne. We celebrated 40 years of non-professional drama in 2015 and are proud to have put on  around 120 productions in the local area.

We produce around 3 shows a year including our hugely popular pantomimes and are lucky enough to be the resident drama group at the lovely Empire Theatre in Halstead. We also perform at Earls Colne Village Hall.

Find information about our past productions, view and download images from our galleries, meet the cast , contact us about becoming a member or just get in touch.

Our next production (at last!!!) Caught in the net by Ray Cooney

At last after just over 2 years of being unable to tread the boards we’re back!

This play is a sequel to RUN FOR YOUR WIFE. We find John Smith eighteen years later, still happily married to his two unsuspecting wives. He now has a sixteen-year old son, Gavin, by Barbara in Streatham, and a fifteen-year old daughter, Vicki, by Mary in Wimbledon. One day Gavin and Vicki happen to meet surfing the internet and are amazed at the coincidences concerning their respective (!) fathers: both are called ‘John Smith’; both are aged 43; and, surprise, surprise, both are taxi drivers. Vicki can’t understand her Dad’s vehement reaction when she tells him, firstly, of the amazing coincidence and, secondly, that she’s invited Gavin round to meet him and Mum, John spends the next two hours attempting to stop the inevitable. Get your tickets on line here caught in the net.jpeg

Stane Street Players Update

Hi everyone! it’s been a strange year or so! Who would have thought that in January 2020, fresh from our award winning production of Dick Whittington, we would have been thrust into a global pandemic, putting all of our plans  on hold!

Hopefully, as we near the end of the Roadmap to normality, we can start looking at how we can get going again with new productions!

Please watch this space!

In the meantime – visit our galleries’ which have been updated with pictures from the 1980s and 1990s in Toad of Toad Hall, Outside Edge, Puss in Boots, Bedroom Farce, Educating Rita, Jack and the Beanstalk, Season’s Greetings, Hickory Dickory Dock and House Guest. For which many thanks to one time member Su Newton, and apologies as I’ve been neglecting adding these for a long time!

I’ve also updated the gallery with pictures and info for Dick Whittington and the 2019 collaboration for Dad’s Army. Enjoy reminiscing and we look forward to seeing you all soon!
